Magazine Genres

Magazine History

Everything  has  it's  beginning .  As we all  know ,  phones  haven't been  here   forever .  How did ancient people utilize their  times  besides books and  newspaper ?  Who  came up  with the word " magazine "?  How  did   magazines  all begin?   Magazines  have  existed  since the 17th  century .  The first  magazine  was  established  in Germany 1663.   Johann   Rist   created  "Edifying Monthly Discussions"  also  known as one of the  examples  of modern  magazine .  This periodical was made for literary philosophy purposes.  During the 1700s, there was an increase in literacy and intellectual skill.   There  were  three essays periodicals that  led  to the modern magazine:  Daniel  Defoe 's "The Review",  Sir Richard  Steele 's "The Tatler", and Addison and  Steele 's "The Spector."   In the 1700s, Edward Cover published the magazine called "The Gentlemen's Magazine" in London 1731.  Edward Cove

Cover Page Analysis

Magazines consisted of many conventions.  Here are magazines conventions that are commonly found:  Cover page: Cover page contains components that will have visual style and an attractive layout and design. It gives the tone, "mood" of the magazine.  Masthead:It attracts readers/audience instantly and it's easily recognisable. They tie with the target audience as well.  They are commonly found in huge bold letters. (Ex: TIME)  Tagline: This is found many times thought-out the cover page of the magazine. It can be one word used to attract readers to pick up. This also presents what the magazine is about.  Cover lines: Summarizes what magazine includes. It provides the reader with an idea of the magazine. It can be an interesting quote or names.  Central image/model: This is the cover graphic. It relates  to what the magazine is aiming for. It is used to attract the audience before reading the magazine.  Color scheme: Is provided to attract the audience eye. It targets the

Reflecion on Syllabus

             Picture from Canva.com      In this course, I am looking forward to presenting my creativity, research skills, and networking skills. Over the year, I have noticed my art and design skills have improved. On top of that, I have also enhanced in my research skills and networking skills. Developing an app and attending many meetings allowed me to improve on this. However, during this course there are also topics throughout the course that will be challenging. For example, I am nervous about exploring production, contexts and critical debates using the correct terminology, and understanding all the points.

But, if you ask close friends and relatives that opinion will rapidly change. I describe myself as an intelligent, busy, athletic, flexible and over-achieving individual.
